Get to Know Us
The Uncommon Route designs private Sri Lanka journeys for travellers who would rather understand the island than rush through it. Wildlife leads the story: leopards at first light, elephants gathering by ancient reservoirs, rainforest birds moving through the canopy and the long silences that make a sighting feel earned.
But the route is never only about the sighting. It is also the estate path before tea is poured, the doctor-led Ayurveda consultation that slows the body down, the guide who explains why a forest changes after rain, the fort wall at dusk, and the decision to spend two nights where most itineraries allow four hours.
Every journey is planned around season, pace, road time, guide quality and traveller temperament. Nothing is added because it is famous. Everything earns its place.
The Uncommon Approach
Uncommonly slow
We leave space for the island to work on you. A route should create memory, not just
movement.
Uncommonly specific
Every property, guide, trail and safari window is chosen for a reason. We do not build from databases; we build from direct experience and current knowledge
Uncommonly honest
We tell you the truth about drive times, monsoon shifts, leech season, rough seas, early starts and the experiences that are better skipped than forced.
Uncommonly accountable
A fair share from every booking goes to conservation and community wellbeing in Sri Lanka. Guests choose the split and receive proof after they return home.

Day Tours Preview
Our day tours are crafted for travellers who want meaningful experiences in a shorter time. Whether it is heritage, food, nature, wildlife or coastal discovery, each tour is planned to feel focused, personal and far from ordinary.
Round Tours
Our round tours are designed for travellers who want more than a standard island circuit. From hidden cultural routes and scenic highlands to wildlife, coastlines and local experiences, each journey is carefully shaped to reveal Sri Lanka with depth, comfort and a sense of discovery.
Wellness & Nature
Sri Lanka’s forests, mountains and coastlines approached at the right pace — with certified Ayurveda, guided trekking, rainforest naturalist walks and enough time at each place to actually feel it. These journeys are designed for travellers who want to go deeper, not further.
Culture & Heritage
Ancient cities, living temples and village kitchens, paced so the history has room to settle. Private guides, early site entries and stays that sit close to the places they describe — not a checklist of monuments, but a slower reading of the island.
Wildlife & Coast
Leopard country at first light, then salt air and quiet bays. Responsible jeeps, boat time with local crews, and evenings that are not another transfer. Built for travellers who want the wild and the water in one coherent circuit.
Highlands & Tea
Rail lines, tea ridges and cool air after the heat of the plains. Estate walks, bungalow nights and the slow theatre of the hill country — enough days in each valley that the landscape becomes familiar, not a window from a moving van.
Every journey leaves something behind. A fair share from every booking goes to conservation and community wellbeing in Sri Lanka. You choose where the contribution goes. We show you what it changed.
Tailor-Made Tours
Your route begins with a brief, not a template. Tell us your travel dates, pace, interests and what you would rather avoid. We will design the Sri Lanka journey that fits the way you actually travel.
